Workshop on MRV Guideline &Review on GHG Emission Calculation in the Cement Industry
Bogor, 18-20th November 2015. Following the trial of MRV guideline draft in August 2015, the guideline is revised with more detailed information to guide the companies as well as verificators. Validation of data for calculation of GHG Emission in the cement companies that was started on August 2015 should be continued. 3-days workshop was held at Hotel Amaroossa Bogor on 18th – 20th November 2015 to finalize the MRV guideline for cement industry as well as to validate the cement companies‘ data and its calculation of GHG emission, participated by more than 30 participants from cement industries. On the 1st day, Presentation on NAMA-cement progress activity was delivered by PAKLIM, followed by discussion on draft MRV guideline, facilitated by Mrs Lusi Widowati as PAKLIM's expert. In the afternoon, MoI's expert shared detail explanation and gave hands-on training on the online monitoring and reporting system on GHG emission for cement industry, followed by an active and thorough discussion on the review of CO2 emission baseline and BAU scenario in cement industry, facilitated by Mr Ery Indrawan as PAKLIM's expert. Also supported by Mrs Retno Gumilang Dewi as MoI's expert, the discussion continued in the last day of the workshop. It can be summarized that there is still a need to have a follow-up discussion on defining emission baseline and BAU scenario, as well as emission reduction target both for year 2020 and 2030. In setting the emission reduction targets. participants also expressed their opinions related with factors which might affect the companies' abilities in achieving the target, such as regulation frameworks, economic conditions, and technology requirement. The draft of MRV guideline will be then published by MoI in early 2016. Whilst, the analysis on emission baseline and BAU scenario shall be improved and used as basis for further NAMA-cement development.
