The Signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Ministry of Industry, HKI, and PAKLIM

24 August 2015, Jakarta. As part of cooperation between Ministry of Industry and PAKLIM; a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Ministry of Industry, Industrial Estate Association (Himpunan Kawasan Industri/HKI), and PAKLIM, is agreed to be signed to develop joint activities and to maintain close working relationships and hold consultation to the extent as considered useful. Titled “Development of Eco-Industrial Estates In The Context of Climate Change Mitigation Plans of The Government of Indonesia”, the objective of this MoU is to establish the commitment to continue a close partnership on an equal basis for promoting the active cooperation for the existing and new joint activities between the parties by driving forward the industrial estates including estate management and its tenants to implement voluntary action on reducing Greenhouse Gas emissions. Witnessed by Ir I Gusti Putu Suryawirawan as Director General of Metals, Machinery, Transport equipment and Electronical Industry from Ministry of Industry; DR. Ir. Imam Haryono, M.Sc as Director General for Industrial Facility Development, Ministry of Industry, Mr Sanny Iskandar as Chairman of HKI, Mr Stefan Bundscherer as PAKLIM’s Programme Director, formally signed the MoU during the ceremonial event held on 24th August 2015 at Rajawali room, Ministry of Industry. Through this MoU, as stated by Dr Haryono, coordination among parties is expected to be intensified, not only for the technical advisory support from PAKLIM, but also for know-how transfer between the parties. Whilst, Mr Iskandar and Mr Bundscherer also stated that every industrial estates in Indonesia shall be developed by taking into account the sustainability aspect, not only to achieve the economic goals. The development of eco-industrial estate will show better and more efficient ways and means to use resources, which will reduce Greenhouse Gas emissions, and thus will be economically more attractive.
